Last Updated on February 22, 2024 by News Desk

The Calcutta HC granted bail to the journalist Santu Pan, who was arrested when he was doing live reporting from Sandeshkhali, west Bengal for Republic TV on 19th February.

It was alleged by the authorities of the state that the journalist was arrested for outraging the modesty of the woman by entering her home, while he was reporting.

The charges were denied by him and alleged that he was arrested only because he was ‘exposing the truth’

The single-judge bench of Justice Kaushik Chanda granted the bail. A detailed order is still awaited.

The matter pertains to Sandeshkhali district which has been the hotbed of unrest since the ED officers team was attacked.
