A Mumbai court has granted bail to Rajesh Shah, a Shiv Sena leader, who was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident involving his BMW. The accident resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to her husband. The incident occurred on Di Annie Besant Road in Worli around 5:30 am on Sunday.

According to the police, Mihir Shah, the 24-year-old son of Rajesh Shah, was driving the BMW when it collided with a scooter, dragging the woman for over 2 kilometers. The victim, Kaveri Nakhwa, 45, was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Her husband, Pradeep, sustained injuries.

Following the crash, Mihir Shah fled the scene towards the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, abandoning the car and his driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, near Kala Nagar in Bandra. Both Rajesh Shah and Bidawat were arrested on Sunday for allegedly aiding Mihir in escaping after the accident.

In response to the incident, Mumbai police have formed six teams to apprehend Mihir Shah. A Look Out Circular (LOC) has also been issued against him to prevent his escape from the country.

This hit-and-run case closely follows another incident in Pune, where a 17-year-old boy, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, drove a Porsche into a motorbike, resulting in the deaths of two software engineers on May 19.

The court’s decision to grant bail to Rajesh Shah has stirred public sentiment, with many calling for stricter measures against those involved in such reckless behavior. The police continue their search for Mihir Shah as the investigation progresses.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and the consequences of dangerous driving in urban areas. Authorities urge the public to adhere to traffic laws and report any suspicious activities to prevent further tragedies on the roads.
