No cooling of period is provided in the constitution for the judges: Law Minister

The center had affirmed that there has been no constitutional stipulation for a cooling off period for the judges after their retirement, before their appointment in the governmental roles.
This was in response to a query from the AAP M Raghav Chadha, by the Union Law and Justice Minister, Arjun Ram Meghwal.
It was highlighted by the AAP MP that there is a need to prevent retired judges from joining the political positions or the executive positions.
He proposed the enhancement of the pension for the judges.
He also emphasized that the appointments should be merit-based and politically unbiased to safeguard the judiciary’s independence.
The law minister referred to articles 124, 217, and 224 of the Indian Constitution as well as he also reiterated the backlog and pendency of the cases at various levels of courts.
