Tamil Nadu Takes Case to Supreme Court, Claims Center Withholding ₹37k Crore for Flood Relief

The Supreme Court has been approached by the Tamil Nadu government, whereby it has alleged that the central government has not been releasing the funds regarding the damages caused by the natural calamities.

An original suit has been filed by the TN government where they have requested the court to direct the payment of Rupees 37 thousand crore, which is for the aid towards relief caused by recent cyclones and floods.

It has been mentioned in the suit that several requests were made yet the same has not been acted upon.

It also said that no response has been given by the central government to the report of the inter-ministerial team that went it asses the damage caused by the calamities.

It was alleged that the inaction was arbitrary, ex-facie illegal, and violative of the states’s people’s fundamental rights.

The same hampers the development of the state and causes mental agony.

Tamil Nadu is the second state to take such a grievance to the court of the state of Karnataka.
