SC MoU with IIT Madras for collaboration on the use of AI in access to Justice.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed by the supreme court with IIT Madras, for collaborating on the usage of artificial intelligence and other technologies for the transcription, summarizing pages, translation tools, and streaming platforms for the court trials.
A press release was notified about the same.
The aim of the MoU is the facilitation of the digital transformation of the Indian Judiciary, where the vision is for an efficient as well as more technologically sound system so that the motto of access to justice gets fulfilled.
The move comes after, CJI DY Chandrachud visited IIT Madras in July for the 60th convocation ceremony. In this event, it was remarked by the CJI that artificial intelligence holds a lot of potential and the same can enable treating the problems of unfair treatment and discrimination.
He also said that the real success of technology lies in enabling the freedom and the human rights of every individual.
