The Supreme Court Collegium recommended the appointment of 5 judicial officers in Gujrat HC and two attorneys as Judges

The Gujarat High Court should select five judicial officers and two attorneys as judges, according to a recommendation made on Thursday by the Supreme Court Collegium, which is chaired by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

The suggested court officials are:

  1. Susan Valentine Pinto
  2. Hasmukhbhai Dalsukhbhai Suthar
  3. Jitendra Champa Doshi
  4. Mangesh Rameshchandra Mengdey
  5. Divyeshkumar Amrutlal Joshi
  6. The Recommended Advocates are:
  7. Devan Mahendrabhai Desai
  8. Moxa Kiran Thakker

On September 26, 2022, the Gujarat High Court Collegium, which was made up of the then Chief Justice and the two senior-most Judges, unanimously made the recommendation. It also stated that the recommendation had the support of Gujarat’s Chief Minister and Governor.

In Brief, the advised notification mentioned: “We have carefully reviewed and assessed the material on file, including the inputs provided by the Intelligence Bureau, in order to determine the merit and appropriateness of the candidates for promotion to the High Court. We have also read the observations made in the file by the Department of Justice”.
