Termination of Delhi Legislative Assembly Fellows had been stayed by the Delhi HC

Facts:- The petitioners were appointed after the advertisement as well as a proper selection process that took place in the year 2019. The services were extended on a regular basis after every two years and their tenure would have ended in 2024.
Their services were terminated as the reservation policy had not been followed and the approval of the L.G. had not been taken.
Issue:- The petition was filed against the decision to disengage the services of the fellows, associate fellows as well and associate fellows of media under the Delhi Assembly Research Centre Fellowship Programme.
Analysis:- Justice Saubramonium Prasad asked the secretariat to provide an explanation as to the termination of the fellows even after the speaker had raised an objection to such a decision and told them to give a reply within two weeks.
The court also said that till the next date of hearing the services of the fellows will not be discontinued and the petitioners must be given their respective stipends.
The matter is further listed for hearing on 12th December.
Judgement: – The Delhi Legislative Assembly secretariat’s decision to disengage the service of fellows under the Delhi Assembly Research Centre Fellowship Programme was stayed by the Delhi HC.
