Supreme Court Misidentifies Kindle as Tinder in E-Library Discussion

In a Supreme Court hearing, Justice PV Sanjay Kumar mistakenly referred to Amazon’s e-book reader, Kindle, with the dating app Tinder. The court was discussing plans for e-libraries and digitising textbooks.

Justice Kumar asked if Tinder was the name of the device, which was corrected to ‘Kindle’. ASG Vikramjit Banerjee emphasised the need for a shift in traditional consumption methods, stating that everything is now accessible in electronic form.

The court issued notices to all states and Union territories in response to a plea filed by Advocate-on-Record Swati Jindal, calling for the establishment of rural libraries to ensure holistic education and the development of children through reading.

The court’s decision reflects the changing nature of traditional consumption methods in today’s digital age.
