SC: “Don’t want to be influenced by the media in the Delhi water crisis case”

Issue:- The petition was filed by the Delhi Government whereby the directions were sought for the state of Haryana to facilitate the supply of water to Delhi from Himachal Pradesh.
The vacation bench of Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Prasanna B Varale remarked that due to the excessive media coverage that has been given to the case, the court would like to read the case file first, else the media reports can create influence which would not be a good thing.
The court also made a note that the status report and other affidavits are not on record in the case as the defects have not been received.
A strong objection was taken by the court regarding the failure of the Delhi government to remove the defect in the petition and warned that the case would be dismissed if the defect was not removed
Judgement:- SC deferred the hearing in the Delhi government’s plea for releasing the surplus water, from Himachal Pradesh to the National Capital.
