Rs. 3 Laksh cost imposed on Sanjiv Bhatt for petitions alleging bias against the Trial Judge: SC

Facts:– Sacked IPS Officer Sanjiv Bhatt is serving life imprisonment an a case of custodial death that took place in 1990
Issue:- The petitions were filed by Sanjiv Bhatt where he had alleged bias and unfairness against the presiding judge, who was the judge in the trial of the drug planting case in which he has been involved.
Analysis:- Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Rajesh Bindal imposed one lakh cost on each of the three petitions filed by him and the cost will be deposited to the Gujarat HC advocates welfare fund.
In one petition he had sought the transfer of the judge on the account of bias. In another petition he had sought the directions for having the audio video recordings of the trial court proceedings and the third petition was to produce additional witnesses.
Judgment:– SC imposed costs of Rs 3 lakhs on IPS Officer Sanjiv Bhatt.
