Petition produced with a fabricated court order, SC orders criminal investigation
Last Updated on September 28, 2023 by News Desk
The supreme court recently came across a petition which had a fabricated document, to show it as an order of the Supreme Court itself.
The bench led by Justice Abhay S. Oka and Justice Pankaj Mithal ordered a criminal investigation into the issue.
The issue was concerned with an SLP whose Annexures A and B had two orders, passed by the same bench on 25 July 2022. Where the first order was of dismissal the second order allowed the SLP.
A Complaint regarding the same was filed by a litigant and after going through the relevant documents, on 22nd August it was directed to the Registrar to hold an inquiry into this aspect and submit a report to the court.
It was said by the court at this time, that if it was proved that a fabrication had taken place then the criminal investigation would take place.
Also, the advocate who presented such a petition did not appear even when the notice was sent to him.
