On Thursday, the Madras HC questioned the Coimbatore police action whereby a criminal case was registered against the management of a school for the fact that merely the students were standing in the school uniform at the roadshow of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 18th March.
Justice Jayachandran asked the police to file a reply in writing explaining the reason behind lodging the criminal case as to how merely the presence of the schoolchildren during the roadshow can lead to any offense.
The petition was filed by the principal of the school, S Pukul Vadivu of the school in Coimbatore, whereby the quashing of the case under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act was registered on the complaint of Pavithtra devi, the district child protection officer on the claim that they were forced by the school to do so.
It was aside by the court how on the basis pf such information of the district child protection officer, the case can solely be registered, where the basis of such information was published news reports.
The court said that such a judgment can have a large scale bearing more such issues where any children would be present at political events.
