Court Approval Required for Filing Private Photographs in Legal Proceedings : Allahabad High Court

Last Updated on April 13, 2024 by News Desk

The Allahabad High Court has directed its registry to obtain court permission before allowing the filing of private photographs of parties. Justice Ajay Bhanot argued that such photographs can invade privacy and can be traumatic for individuals.

The court issued a direction that no private or indecent photographs should be accepted without court permission.

The direction was issued after certain private photographs were attached to a rejoinder affidavit filed in connection with a bail plea in a rape case.

The accused, who had been in custody since November 23, 2023, argued that the rape case was filed after the relationship turned sour.

The court allowed the bail plea based on the accused’s submissions, stating that no indecent photographs or videos of the victim had been recovered.
