Constitution is the need for development and stability of the nation: CJI

CJI DY Chandrachud stressed the importance of the constitution of India. He said that is essential for the development as well as the stability of the nation.
He was addressing while present at the ‘Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman’ campaign in Bikaner, Rajasthan. He said that the constitution is the embodiment of the freedom struggle of the country.
He said that the laws apply to all, irrespective of their caste, race, religion, creed, or gender, thereby the constitution of India is considered as everyone’s constitution.
He said that while the fundamental rights are intact in their place it must not be forgotten that there are some fundamental duties also.
Further, he went on to say that he has observed that people fail to give respect to those who are lower than them in positions. He said that everyone should be treated equally. He highlighted how at the Supreme Court the name ‘jamdar’s has been changed to ‘ushers’
He stressed how technology has helped in the field of education and how it has increased women’s participation.
