Chief Justice of Jharkhand HC appointed after 6 vacancy of 6 months

It was notified by the central government that Justice BR Sarangi will be appointed as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand HC.

The notification has come, after 6 months since the proposal of his name was made by the collegium of the SC.

Justice BR Sarangi is set to retire in less than a month, on 20^th July.

He is right now serving as the senior judge of the Orissa HC.

The position of the chief justice of Jharkhand HC has been vacant since December 2023.

Justice began his legal career in 1985 by practicing in the Orissa HC and 2002 he was conferred with the Haricharan Mukherjee Memorial Award.
