The Supreme Court of India has issued a notice to the Tamil Nadu government and others regarding a plea filed against the state’s oral order banning live telecast of the “Pran Prathishta” of Lord Ram at Ayodhya in temples across Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu government denied the plea, stating that permission cannot be rejected solely on the grounds of other communities living in the locality. The apex court emphasised that permission cannot be rejected on the sole grounds of other communities living in the locality.

Sitharaman accused the MK Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government of banning events linked to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration. The senior BJP leader accused the DMK government of “anti-Hindu, hateful action” as preparations for the pran pratishtha ceremony entered their last leg. The Finance Minister claimed that the government had banned watching live telecasts of Ayodha Ram Mandir programmes on January 22. The state administration denied these assertions as “false news with ulterior motives.”

The ‘Pran Pratistha’ of Ram Lalla is scheduled to take place today morning in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries. Security has been beefed up in the temple town, with Rapid Action Force personnel deployed at strategic locations. Police are conducting patrols by boat on the Sarayu River, and anti-bomb squad and dog squad teams are stationed at Ayodhya’s Maharishi Valmiki International Airport.
