The FIR and the order setting charges against him are among the several trial court actions that the former BJP MP has requested to be quashed.

Leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, has filed a request to the Delhi High Court to put an end to the trial court’s proceedings on the accusations of sexual harassment made by female wrestlers against him.

On Thursday, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna will consider the plea.

Singh has requested the quashing of all related procedures, including the trial court decision that framed allegations against him and the First Information Report (FIR).He is accused of outraging the modesty of five female wrestlers and engaging in sexual harassment.

According to the trial court, there is enough evidence in the file to bring charges against Singh. It further stated that there is enough evidence to bring charges against Singh for the crime of criminal intimidation under Section 506(1) of the IPC with regard to two wrestlers.

Vinod Tomar, a former assistant secretary of the WFI, is accused of intimidating a wrestler illegally. Singh was accused of sexual harassment by six wrestlers in all. The police had filed a formal case (FIR) against the former MP in response to their concerns.

Singh was charged on June 15, 2023, by the police for violating the Indian Penal Code (IPC)’s Sections 354 (outraging modesty), 354A (sexually suggestive statements), 354D (stalking), and 506(1) (criminal intimidation).

The Supreme Court had previously been requested by the complainants in order to file a FIR against Singh. The Delhi Police then notified the Supreme Court that a FIR had been filed and that the investigation was proceeding as planned.

There had also been accusations made against Singh by a minor wrestler. She subsequently retracted her complaint, though, and the Delhi Police used the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) to submit a cancelation report in that instance.
