Prioritize court proceedings: Bombay HC
Last Updated on December 15, 2024 by Shianjany Pradhan
The Bombay High Court was assured by the Maharashtra Government that police officers will now prioritize court proceedings over other duties, addressing concerns about delays in judicial processes.
This decision comes after the court’s criticism of officers frequently missing hearings, which caused case adjournments and delayed justice for victims and accused individuals.
The State has issued clear instructions to ensure police participation in court matters while balancing their other responsibilities.
The court highlighted that such lapses disrupt the justice system and stressed the importance of officers’ presence in upholding legal integrity.
This directive aims to reduce trial delays and tackle the issue of case backlogs in courts.
