The court passed the order while the plea filed by the wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Puniya, Sakshi Malik, and Satyawart Kadian.

Justice Sachin Datta declined this request and protested against former WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, and after his tenure, Sanjay Singh, considered close to Brij Bhushan became the head.

Centre suspended the WFI on 24 Dec 2023, for not adhering to its constitution. The IOA was asked to form an Ad Hoc committee to manage WFI. In Feb 2024, United World Wrestling lifted the WFI suspension, leading to the dissolution of the committee by the IOA.

Wrestling Phogat, puniya, Malik, and Kadiyan filed a plea in the HC to prevent the revocation of WFI suspension and to appoint a retired judge to manage its affairs.
