The Delhi High Court made an important decision saying that past problems should not prevent religious events from happening. This ruling came up in a case about the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Jahangirpuri, which is set for April 12. The court asked the Delhi Police to think again about their earlier decision not to allow the procession.

Justice Sachin Datta was involved in this case after someone challenged the police’s refusal to give permission for the event. The person pointed out that even though there were issues in the past, like a violent clash during last year’s Hanuman Jayanti that injured several people, it is important to continue religious traditions.

In the ruling on April 9, the court recognized the police’s worries about safety but stressed that each event should be looked at based on its own situation. Justice Datta said it was the police’s job to make proper security plans for such events.

The person who organizes the Hanuman Jayanti procession mentioned that approval for the event has been consistently denied since 2019. The court has now asked them to submit a new application that includes details about the route and length of the procession. This new approach aims to address safety concerns while allowing the event to proceed, showing the court’s commitment to balancing public safety with the right to celebrate religious occasions.
