Justice Vedavyasachar Srishananda, a judge in the Karnataka High Court, has sparked controversy by referring to a Bengaluru neighborhood as “Pakistan” during a session. He stated that every auto rickshaw in Gori Palya, a predominantly Muslim area, has 10 people, which is not applicable because the Mysore Road flyover head left to the market from Gori Palya is in Pakistan, not India.
The statement has gone viral on social media, with many condemning the comment as a systemic dehumanization of Indian Muslims. Some users argue that the judge’s words encourage common people to dehumanize Indian Muslims even more.
However, some users support the judge’s observation, with some expressing admiration for the judge’s honesty and others expressing support for the Karnataka High Court. Some users hope that the judge will include this observation in his written order.
The incident has sparked widespread criticism on social media.
