The Delhi High court ordered a group of people to plant 10 trees and look after them for decade while quashing FIR report filed against them. The FIR was filed by against a bunch of people in 2017 after a fight over petting pigs. Several offences were imposed upon them by Delhi Police. Later on the disputes were settled by parties outside the court. After considering the facts court said, “The cops have also wasted a lot of time on problems that shouldn’t have become this serious. Also, priceless judicial time has been lost. Notwithstanding the fact that the parties’ differences have been resolved and the quashing will put an end to the affair, the petitioners must further social justice.”
Justice Jasmeet Singh ordered that the petitioners would not incur any financial costs because of their low socioeconomic status, but they must plant the trees within four weeks and will have to send photographs every year. First status report shall be filed by concerned I.O. officer from today. He also directed concerned officer to inform petitioner about the location for planting trees in consultation with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s Horticulture Department.
