The Bombay High Court has acquitted Namdeo Chormule of attempting to kill his wife by pouring rat poison in her mouth. Chormule was convicted under Section 307 of the IPC for an attempt to murder.
The court ruled that there was no premeditation or pre-planning, as the poison was poured during a quarrel at 9:00 a.m. The court also noted that Chormule immediately took his wife to the hospital, indicating no intention to kill her.
The court ordered Chormule’s release and sentenced him to the time served, as he had been in custody for over five years. The wife also informed the court that Chormule had tried to pour kerosene on her, but Chormule was acquitted for that charge.
