Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, D. Y Chandrachud, made a major announcement that the supreme court will be providing judgments in the regional languages.  The announcement came just before the nation is embarking on celebrating its 74th Republic Day on 26th January 2023.

A few days back on the 2nd of January, the supreme court launched a new feature, e-SCR, where the digital versions of all the judgements of the supreme court will be given in the manner as they are reported while being published in the law report.

The judgements will be available to the people on the supreme court’s website, and the mobile app. It will also be available on the national judicial data grid portal.  It was said, by hon’ble CJI that e-SCR, has an elastic search facility and the same has now an enormous 34000 judgements out of which 1091 judgements will be launched in the regional languages on 26th January.

The supreme court has taken up the task of providing the judgements in the languages which are mentioned in the schedule. This platform is an initiative towards digitization which is hoped to bring positive changes in the legal system.
