When a council member appeared for the Delhi Forest Department, they claimed that he did not represent the Delhi government.
The SC came to be surprised by the statement.
Justice Abhay S Oka said that he was not able to understand how the state government and a department of the state government could engage two separate advocates.
The issue was of enhancing the green cover in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
On 17th January, the court gave directions to the Delhi government to come up with an affidavit highlighting if any action had been taken.
On the remark of the advocate, the court gave the direction that the registry must be immediately communicated regarding the order to the chief secretary of the Delhi government so that compliance can be ensured.
It was also clarified that if the compliance is not done in the given time, it will result in contempt.
