The Supreme Court has taken note of a controversial speech delivered by Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav, a sitting judge of the Allahabad High Court, during a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) event. The Court has sought details of the speech from the Allahabad High Court for further examination.

A press release confirmed the Supreme Court’s action, stating that it was responding to reports on the matter. The speech has drawn sharp criticism for its alleged communal tone. Justice Yadav reportedly made remarks suggesting the country should operate according to the majority’s wishes. He also used the derogatory slur “kathmulla” while addressing the gathering.

The comments have triggered widespread backlash, with critics labeling them discriminatory and harmful to India’s secular values. Legal experts and human rights advocates have voiced concerns over the implications of a sitting judge making such statements.

The matter remains under consideration, and the Supreme Court is expected to evaluate the issue further after receiving detailed particulars from the Allahabad High Court.
