4 Acre land to be given for new Bombay HC building

Maharashtra govt. informed the SC that 4.39 acres of land in Bandra Kurla will be handed over to by September 10th, to the Bombay HC for the new building of the HC.
A suo moto petition was being heard by the special bench of Chief Justice of India, D.Y Chandrachud, Justice BR Gavai, and Justice JB Pardiwala.
In the last hearing, the SC had asked the CJ of Bombay HC to expedite the process of the finalization of the architect and the design.
Adv. Saraf submitted in the court on 15th July that the state government will be handing over the land. The same will be done as per the timeline in a color coded plan.
The copies of the plan will be handed over to the Presidents of the 3 bombay bar association.
It was noted by the court that 8 architects have been short listed for the design plan. Once they make their presentation before the HC committee, the most suitable one will be invited.
The matter is now further listed for 22nd August, 2024.
