Last Updated on October 18, 2023 by News Desk

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court granted bail to congress leader Afzal Lakhani, who was accused of making Anti Indian and pro-Pakistani Facebook posts and making posts with derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother.

His bail was denied by the Gujarat HC in June.

A bench of Justice AS Bopanna and Justice MM Sundresh of Apex granted him bail on the condition that he would not be making any such posts on social media.

The observation made by the Gujarat HC was that people should be faithful to the country as there are certain materials that may have a larger impact on society.

The SC made the observation that a person may not like somebody but that doesn’t mean that derogatory language can be used against the prime minister of the country.
